Greg Tananbaum will introduce the work of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, Roundtable on Aligning Incentives for Open Science and the toolkit that has been developed to help societies and organizations move toward relevant incentives for researchers to openly share their research, data, and other outputs in support of open science.
Chris Bourg, Director of Libraries at MIT and Co-Chair of the Open Access Task Force at MIT, will share the current progress, opportunities and challenges in revising the Institute’s policies and practices around open publications, data, educational materials, and software.

Societies have a unique role in bringing awareness of developing practices and supporting the necessary discussions within disciplines to bring their voice to the larger community.
These seminars are monthly through January 2022 held on the first Friday of each month at 10am ET (15:00 UTC). There will be 2-3 speakers with ~30 minutes of Q&A and discussion specific to society engagement to help with data sharing, credit, transparency and more. Recordings will be made available following the session.
