Released today in advance of the celebrations of the “World Metrology Day” this coming May 20, this story about the New SI provides a succinct update of why the International System of Units is getting a makeover and how it affects chemists in the lab everyday.
The changes agreed upon last year by the General Conference on Weights and Measures are the most significant revisions to the International System of Units (the SI) since its inception. These changes will be implemented on World Metrology Day this coming May 20, the day anniversary on which the Convention of the Metre was first signed in 1875.
