Nominations for the Franzosini Award are in recognition of a promising young contributor.
The Subcommittee on Solubility Equilibrium Data (SSED) established the Franzosini Award to be presented to a maximum of two young scientists working in the areas of solubility and homogeneous equilibrium data. The awardees must attend the International Symposium on Solubility Phenomena and Related Equilibrium Processes (ISSP), the biannual conference organized by the SSED.
The next 20th International Symposium on Solubility Phenomena and Related Equilibrium Processes (ISSP20) will be hosted by Simão Pinho in the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, Bragança, Portugal and is scheduled 4-9 September 2022.
The Nominations deadline for the Franzosini awards is 31 May 2022.
Each nomination should be completed on this FORM.
The recipient should be no more than 45 years of age at the time of the award presentation.
The candidates have to be proposed by at least one sponsor.
The sponsor(s) must fill the online form to identify themselves as well as the nominee.
Each application must be then accompanied by a letter of support providing a brief statement of the achievements of the nominee, including a brief CV including a list of recent publications, explaining their nomination.
The chair and the secretary of SSED will nominate a team to review each nomination.

Analysis of nominations
The Award Committee will consider the following:
• whether the candidate’s research is in areas associated to SSED activities;
• the candidate’s publication record
However the number of publications is not the most important criterion and the Committee will consider
• the impact of their research
• the breadth of the research
• the independence of the researcher
In keeping with the original terms of the Franzosini award, each preselected candidate will be asked to write a statement explaining their future involvement in SSED and IUPAC activities. The Award Committee also will take this statement into account in making the award.
