About this Challenge
To celebrate the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT2019) and the IUPAC centenary, in 2019 we developed an online challenge about the Periodic Table of the Elements which was aimed at a global audience of young students. Since then, the Challenge has been played more than 130 000 times from 160+ countries and every continent, including Antarctica!
The IUPAC Periodic Table Challenge is available in all official languages of the United Nations and everyone is invited to join!
How to play
The IUPAC Periodic Table Challenge will present you with 10 randomly chosen multiple-choice questions about the elements. To play, you will be asked to choose the difficulty level and an element as avatar. You will be asked to provide your name and email so we can keep track of your achievements. Your score will go towards this element in the leaderboard and the avatars will show up on the world map based on the geolocation of your internet provider.
Schools, Institutions, or Organizations may wish to participate in the Periodic Table challenge.
This Challenge and its components are offered for informational purposes only. The information (name and city) you provide will appear on the Certificate if you score 60 % or above. You can download your certificate at a later time by entering your email under ‘Check your Score’.
