The 29th IUPAC Symposium on Photochemistry will bring scientists and engineers from all over the world with expertise in photochemistry, i.e., whose work involves the interactions of light and matter in a broad sense. Started now almost sixty years ago and running every other year with a brief hiatus during the COVID pandemic, this 29th edition will tackle contemporary issues and highlight cutting edge methodologies and new theoretical and experimental developments. The conference themes will span from light energy conversion, of relevance to sustainable energy, to green synthetic methods based on photocatalysis, to the study of the reactive intermediates involved, the development and use of new sensors in materials and biomedical sciences, new photochemical and photophysical properties of nanomaterials, the theoretical underpinnings behind the experimental observations and the associated experimental methods of studies, spanning from ultrafast to single molecule techniques to new emergent modalities. This meeting will also portray new developments of relevance to biomedical sciences, both in the form of new sensors and imaging modalities including super resolution imaging methods, but also through new discoveries in photobiology and photomedicine.
